Mandeville Mental Health Counseling offers individual therapy for children, teens, and adults, as well as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy for clients healing from trauma or distressing experiences.
Each session is designed to meet you or your child exactly where you are. Therapy may focus on developing coping skills, managing anxiety or depression, building resilience, navigating grief or life transitions, or learning how to identify and express emotions in healthy ways.
Our approach is client-centered, strength-based, and collaborative. We’ll work together to identify your goals and create a plan that supports your emotional well-being and growth.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based therapy designed to help people heal from trauma and other distressing life experiences.
During EMDR, you are guided through a series of gentle eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation while recalling specific memories or emotions. This process helps the brain reprocess difficult experiences so they feel less overwhelming.
Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR focuses on how the body and mind store unprocessed memories, allowing clients to experience meaningful relief and emotional balance.
EMDR can be used as a stand-alone treatment or integrated with other therapeutic approaches, depending on your needs.
-
EMDR can be highly effective for people struggling with:
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Anxiety and panic disorders
Phobias and fears
Depression
Complicated grief or loss
Stress or burnout
Negative self-talk or low self-esteem
It can also support individuals who have experienced childhood neglect, bullying, medical trauma, or relationship trauma. You don’t have to have experienced a major life event to benefit. EMDR helps anyone who feels “stuck” in unhelpful emotional patterns and is ready to move forward with less pain and more peace.

For most children, therapy begins with weekly sessions to build trust and consistency. Over time, as your child learns new skills and gains confidence, sessions may shift to every other week and then to monthly check-ins as they transition out of counseling.
Parents are an important part of the process, learning strategies to support emotional regulation, resilience, and communication at home.
Each child’s journey is unique, and we’ll adjust the schedule together to ensure your child feels supported and successful.

Therapy with children at Mandeville Mental Health Counseling is active, creative, and nurturing. Our therapists use play, movement, and mindfulness-based techniques to help children express feelings, develop self-awareness, and strengthen their emotional resilience. Parents are included in the process so they can reinforce new skills at home and better understand their child’s needs.

We work with children as young as 4 or 5, as well as teens, young adults, and adults. Our therapists have extensive experience helping young children identify emotions, practice distress tolerance, and develop healthy coping strategies. We also support adults navigating grief, trauma, and life transitions.
